Immersion in Nature

Peace of Wilderness is all about the meander ... Slowing down and moving with nature. Taking time to observe, sense and find our place in our environment. We offer experiences such as: one to one days, individuals in a like-minded group (we carefully create our groups of appropriately linked folk!), and whole group bookings.

We could be, floating down a river, sitting in the forest, having a group conversation or personal reflection around a topic, using the venture as a personal metaphor, letting the experience speak for itself and finding a balance in nature. It is all very personal; your guide will ensure your needs are met.

Your counsellor will approach the session with a Person-centred perspective. A 'humanistic' approach, meaning it focuses on human potential, free will and self-discovery. Unlike other types of therapy, it focuses on the ways in which people perceive themselves consciously, rather than their unconscious thoughts or ideas.

What is Nature-Therapy?

As mentioned above, we use a person-centred counselling approach and combine this with the outdoors, applying our approach in a natural ecological context. In essence we believe the sense and connection of 'place' are vital to our personal wellbeing. A more-than human perspective including ourselves in nature and that global environmental factors do figure in our therapy and counselling.

What is Shinrin-Yoku / Forest Bathing?

Developed by medical doctors in Japan investigating the relationship between humans and nature and natural objects. Did you know it is evidenced that sustained time in green space lowers your stress and anxiety levels? For example a half day Forest Bathing session is evidenced to:

  • Reduce blood pressure

  • Lower stress

  • Improve cardiovascular and metabolic health

  • Lower blood-sugar levels

  • Improve concentration and memory

  • Lift depression

  • Improve pain thresholds

  • Improve energy

  • Boost the Immune system with an increase in the count of the body's Natural Killer (NK) cells

  • Increase anti-cancer protein production

  • Help you lose weight

  • Support your sleep

As to what we do, you'll have to come along and find out :)
